Perfect Vegan Buttery Fluffy Rice - by Veggie Lexi

How to Make Perfect Fluffy Rice (Vegan, Gluten Free, Flour Free):

Cook Time 20 minutes
Resting Time 10 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes
Servings 4 servings


  • 1 cup long grain unenriched white rice
  • 2 Tablespoons vegan butter*
  • 1/2 Tablespoon fine sea salt
  • 1 1/2 cups water


  1. In a medium lidded pot, bring the water and salt to a boil.
  2. While that’s coming to a boil, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the rice to the skillet and stir to coat evenly.
  4. Toast the rice for two minutes, stirring a few times.
  5. Add the toasted rice to the boiling water.
  6. Bring the water back to a boil, cover and lower to a simmer.
  7. Simmer for 18 minutes.
  8. Remove from the heat and leave covered for 10 minutes.
  9. Fluff with a fork before serving.
