Mulled Wine

Something about mulled wine evokes memories of the holidays.  The aroma is incredible and is sure to put everyone in a festive mood.  This mulled wine is on the sweeter side because of the high content of apple cider and orange juice.  It’s perfect for people who don’t drink much alcohol and are looking for something with a lighter alcohol flavor.

Mulled Wine (Vegan):

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings 12 servings

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 bottle red wine 750 ml
  • 3.5 cups apple cider
  • 3 star anise
  • 6 cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 orange juiced

Instructions

  1. Combine the water and dark brown sugar in a large pot over medium heat. Bring to a simmer until a simple syrup has formed.
  2. Once the sugar has completely dissolved, add all remaining ingredients.
  3. Bring to a boil, then lower to a simmer.
  4. Simmer for 10 minutes.
